Professor Morteza Abbaszadegan Explores Public Health Challenges in Food and Water Quality

Recently delivered an insightful scientific lecture at the Research Institute of Food Science and Technology (RIFST). His talk, titled “Public Health from the Perspective of the Microbiome: Challenges in Food and Water Quality,” focused on the role of microbiomes in drinking water quality and public health. COVID-19 & Water Safety

Dr. Morteza Abbaszadegan, director of the WET Center, provided expert guidance on waterborne transmission risks during the COVID-19 pandemic. He emphasized that properly chlorinated pools pose minimal risk for virus transmission, reinforcing the importance of water disinfection protocols.

“Water is not going to be the reason someone gets COVID-19,” Dr. Abbaszadegan told azcentral.

ASU Engineers Honored by the Arizona Water Association

The Arizona Water Association (AZ Water) recognized outstanding contributions in water research and engineering, honoring Dr. Morteza Abbaszadegan and other Fulton Schools of Engineering faculty for their leadership and impact in water quality, treatment, and public health.

“We have exceeded all expectations and continue to succeed in achieving our goals in the area of research and development as well as training graduate students with an industry prospective,” says Dr. Abbaszadegan.
